The astrology of posture

In astrology, posture, a straight-upright spine is most closely associated to Saturn. The strength and character that results is Sun ruled. This is an example of using the power of Saturn-proactively in a very intelligent and positive way. In fact, one could go further and say that there is no better work than striving to be upright.  This will not only immediately connect one to confidence and  strength but also to purpose. Saturn acting in it’s best and most positive role, as a minister to the Sun.

Posture

Being upright is one of the best ways to promote presence by way of a strong and correct relationship to the present moment.  Upright posture promotes wakefulness, consciousness and strength. It also “self transmits” a message of responsibility and mastery that is very helpful. Arguably it is the first step as well as the prime directive in any plan to connect to one’s best self. It represents the beginning but also the middle and the final destination on the road to awakening.

As Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki said:

…. To take this posture itself is the purpose of our practice. When you have this posture, you have the right state of mind, so there is no need to try to attain some special state.

.The state of mind that exists when you sit in the right posture is, itself, enlightenment.

…..In this posture there is no need to talk about the right state of mind. You already have it.

…..So try always to keep the right posture, not only when you practice zazen, but in all your activities. Take the right posture when you are driving your car, and when you are reading. If you read in a slumped position, you cannot stay awake long. Try. You will discover how important it is to keep the right posture. This is the true teaching.

The weight of the sun

Imagine all the matter in our system. The Sun, all the planets, the dozens of moons orbiting the planets, the asteroids, comets and all the remaining flotsam. Now imagine you place everything on a giant scale in order to weigh and assess it. Amazingly, you would discover the sun accounts for 99.86% of the total mass!

So now try to think of it this way: If the entire solar system is worth $100, the sun would be $99.86. The sun is almost all of it!

Of the 14 cents that remain, Jupiter would be 10 cents and Saturn 3 cents. Everything else, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Eris, moons, asteroids, comets etc would be the final penny. The earth would be about 3/100 of that penny.

I guess this tells us the Sun is pretty big and the earth is really small.

And as for all life including me, you, and the rest of us……………

Trump’s Mid Fall 2017

A video in which I talk briefly about Donald Trump’s chart-where it has been and where it is going:

Saturn transiting through Sagittarius

Saturn transits through Sagittarius from December 24, 2014 until June 14, 2015 and from September 17, 2015 until December 19, 2017. This puts pressure on those born in Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini and Virgo. The earlier you are born in each sign, the greater the pressure would have been during the early part of the transit. The later, the more you are affected in the later stages. So for example someone born in the early days of those four signs would have felt the energy of Saturn in late 2014 and into the summer of 2015 and then again in the fall of 2015. If on the other hand you are born in the last third of these signs, 2017 becomes the pressure period. The good thing about Saturn pressure is that it often leads to growth and maturity. The bad is that it can be quite challenging. From December 19 onward, it will be affecting the cardinal signs, Capricorn, Aries, Cancer and Libra.

Trump’s lunar triggers

Donald Trump’s chart featured transiting Saturn conjoining his natal Moon and opposite his natal Sun from early July until the end of October 2017. By sign this alignment has been in play since 2015  but here we are referring to a block of time during which the degree correlations are tighter and therefore more intense. In the brief Audio below I explain how the green/yellow graphic displays weekly lunar triggers that correlate with days and times of greatest intensity.

Trump transits September 2017: Update

Of late, Trump has recently been shielded by the effect of transiting  Jupiter sextile to his natal Moon and trine his Sun. This cycle has been in effect since mid August and ends around the fall equinox. Therefore, expect his “situation” to become more difficult effective more or less immediately. Meanwhile, the transiting Saturn pressure via the conjunction to his natal moon and opposition to his natal sun continues. The week of September 18 begins with a mutable moon (Virgo). This means Monday September 18 and Tuesday the 19th  are likely to be difficult days for him.

United States of America-the precession effect

On top the actual chart for the “moment of birth”. Under that, what the chart looks like after correcting for 241 years of precession-which amounts to a delay in the transit effect, particularly with the slow moving planets like Pluto. Notice that Pluto is transiting opposite the precessed US sun and has been since about the spring of 2015. The precessed transit span is tightest from approximately April 2015 until about December of 2017. Without correcting for precession, the tightest period would be from early 2014 until the end of 2015. If we relate all of this to the election of Donald Trump, the precessed positions make  more sense.

Ed Murray: Embattled Seattle Mayor

Murray has been Seattle’s mayor since 2014. In the spring of 2017, ahead of the year end next round of elections, several allegations of sexual misconduct eventually forced him to withdraw from the race-though he continued to serve as mayor. Then, in September news broke that a fifth man – one of his cousins – came forward to accuse him of sexual abuse decades ago. Murray resigned effective immediately. There is no available birth time but notice that transiting Uranus has been challenging the Neptune to Jupiter/Uranus square while transiting Neptune is in square to Mars. Depending on the exact birth time Saturn could be transiting in square to the Moon as well. Three major challenging transits at the same time can prove very difficult to overcome. As to the nature of the problem, Pluto is often a factor when issues of sexual abuse are present. Natal Pluto is square mercury which would be enough to correlate with this kind of thing at some point in his life and chances are his birth time would verify the importance of this square. It is also interesting to note that the travelling lunar nodes are linked to this natal Pluto-Mercury square at the time of his final resignation. An accurate birth time would of course cast further light on all of this.

Rafael Nadal: Titan of Tennis

Recently triumphant in the 2017 US open, Nadal has enjoyed a fabulously successful tennis career. Highly gifted and also tremendously intense, he has enjoyed periods of dominance alternating with cycles during which injuries forced him to the sidelines. His chart provides excellent textbook examples of the way planetary cycles work. Why you’re up sometimes but not doing so well during other periods of your life. Nadal is also an excellent example of discipline and resilience in the face of difficulty-when he plays and as he navigates the ups and downs of his life.

Hear are some of his Natal chart patterns and cycles:

Rising natal Pluto Opposite Moon: Great emotional intensity. Tremendous capacity to dig deep. Ability to be extremely thorough. Vulnerable to obsessive compulsiveness.

Natal Saturn Opposite the Sun: Great capacity for discipline and hard work. Vulnerability to injury especially joints, back, hip area (Sagittarius) and hands/arms/shoulders (Gemini). (Unsurprising since he is a tennis player!)

Natal Jupiter in Pisces in the 5th sign from the ascendant and in trine to Venus in Cancer in the 9th sign and to the ascendant itself: Talented in games and sports. Talented foot movement. (His uncle introduced him to tennis at age 3 and what he noticed immediately was Rafa’s ability to move his feet very quickly around the court. If you watch him play for all his obvious tennis skill using his hands arms and shoulders (Gemini), his foot speed is tremendous. Outstanding forward, backward and lateral speed. This lightning speed is also reinforced by natal Mercury in Gemini opposite Uranus.

Natal Ascendant in Scorpio with primary ruler Mars in Capricorn in the third sign: This is a very strong Mars placement in that it promotes consistent release of energy and excellent discipline. Opposite natal Venus and Square to natal Eris suggests a very competitive nature.

Midheaven at 27.52 Leo in proximity to the fixed star Regulus: Success, notoriety.

His great success in 2017 (he won 2 grand slam tournaments and he returned to #1 world ranking)after a so so 2016 and even worse 2015 correlates primarily  to the transit of Jupiter through Libra from where it trines his natal Sun and Mercury. However as we move into the late stages of 2017 he may find himself stopped by transiting Saturn in opposition to Mercury. As of the most recent tournament held in October he appears to be ailing once again from right knee problems. This could hold him back for a while but with Jupiter in Scorpio until the fall of 2018 there is a very good chance he will more major tournaments over the next year. The transit of Jupiter over the natal ascendant (every 12 years) tends to be a very auspicious year.
